Sarah obtained her Master of Arts degree in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University and her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Guelph; majoring in Psychology and minoring in Family and Child Studies. She is a qualified Registered Psychotherapist and is an active member of the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO), the Ontario Association of Consultants, Counsellors, Psychometrists and Psychotherapists (OACCPP), and the Canadian Association for Suicide Prevention (CASP).
Sarah has previously worked within the post-secondary context, having professional training working as a Counsellor at a Southern Ontario University. In this role, Sarah worked with students experiencing a variety of concerns including: anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, LGTBQ issues, career/work issues, family of origin issues, trauma, grief, substance use, porn and internet addictions, suicidality, borderline personality disorder, and issues pertaining to stress management and sleep concerns. Having also worked in the research field as a Psychology Research Assistant, Sarah appreciates research initiatives advancing the counselling and psychotherapy fields. She regularly integrates current research and relevant clinical techniques to support and enhance her therapy practice. Sarah alsopossesses crisis intervention training and experience, having worked in a number of crisis response roles within Eastern and Southern Ontario. Such experiences guide her practice of prioritizing a safe, validating, respectful atmosphere in therapy sessions.
Trained in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT), Strength-Based, and Motivational Interviewing approaches, Sarah uses evidenced-based clinical techniques to help you learn healthy ways of coping. Sarah particularly enjoys working with individuals with concerns relating to anxiety, depression, emotion regulation, feelings of inadequacy, low self-confidence, low self-esteem, stress, self-injury, and school/work/life balance.
Building on her integrative knowledge and previous clinical experiences, Sarah meets your needs in a way that feels most comfortable for you. Sarah offers insight and kindness, allowing her to be real, authentic, and genuine with you. She believes you are the expert on you and will guide you towards your life goals. The therapeutic relationship is something that Sarah emphasizes within therapy sessions. You will feel welcomed and validated in her office as you partner together to face your present concerns and begin to live a fulfilling life!
