What is Person-Centred Therapy?
Person-Centred Therapy is a non-directive form of talk therapy that was developed by psychologist Carl Rogers during the 1940s and 1950s. Person-Centred Therapy is rooted in the Humanistic Philosophy that each person has the ability to move in the direction of a more fulfilling and satisfying way of being and living their lives.
Bliss Therapists will create a non-judgemental and comfortable environment conducive to growth and therapeutic change. Providing unconditional positive regard, congruence and empathy, allowing you to gain a greater sense of self and sort through life’s issues, resulting in emotional well-being.
In person-centred therapy, the therapist acts as a model for communication, but does not provide answers for you: it relies on you to be the catalyst for your own healing. By discovering our own capabilities we are able to find solutions to problems that weigh us down.
We will provide guidance and structure, so that you can discover solutions within yourself, using the techniques and strategies taught by your therapist. We will provide unconditional acceptance and support so you can comfortably and confidently move forward and inward toward self-discovery.
